Mission and Objectives

In late 2007 and early 2008, the Tennessee Tourism Roundtable undertook a comprehensive study on the mission, objectives, and activities of the organization.  The study was undertaken for the purpose of strengthening the organization, re-focusing its programs and activities, providing better services to its members, and enabling it to better meet the challenges of the future.

That study and its accompanying recommendations were adopted by the Board of Directors in March of 2008.

As a result, the following new Mission Statement was adopted:

The mission of the Tennessee Tourism Roundtable is to unite the travel, tourism, and allied industries of the state to promote and strengthen the tourism industry through advocacy, education, and communication.

Every activity and program of the organization is considered, adopted, and undertaken solely in light of its ability to further the core mission as expressed in the new mission statement.

Based on the four points of the organization's new mission statement (industry unity, advocacy, education, and communication), the following general objectives for the organization were established:

    • TTR will foster cooperative action in advancing the common interests and objectives of the organization's members and maintain cooperative and sustaining relationships among the state's tourism-related industries

    • TTR will serve as an advocate on behalf of the state's tourism industry to government leaders and officials and work with its members to advance travel industry-related issues

    • TTR will provide educational and professional development opportunities through meetings, certification programs, conferences, and seminars

    • TTR will effectively communicate with its members and others on the organization's programs and activities, tourism-related issues, and research
